Keats music in Russia

music amazes me.
Along with the encyclicals of Pius IX (Quanta cura ) , the poetry of Baudelaire, The Communist Manifesto, the movement (the Brotherhood) Pre-Raphaelite also stirred the ghosts the malaise of modernity (be modern is to know damned, Barthes). Pre-Raphaelite painters loved painting the reason for the Ballad of John Keats (ah!) Called " La Belle Dame Sans Merci " passion for the imaginary century forced them to perform acts a bit stupid (remember Dante Gabriel Rosetti poems buried in the tomb of his beloved), insane, young and beautiful, also inspired a sophisticated furniture.

That poem was turned into song in the 80s in Russia (USSR ) by Valentin Silvestrov, a song that would be something like Erköning Schubert-Goethe (fantasies deaths pubescent youth and spirits) more than a century later: the song that sings a possession. The subtle spirit that lead to death, still young.

saw pale kings, princesses
too, Pale warriors, death;
all shouted
La Belle Dame sans Merci
has enslaved you!

Here
expressly baritone whining Russian with the endless sadness of the flood of the century to the left. Sustained
on virtually a single phrase and a melody and almost no development, the song manages to move with more effects linked to perception. A persistent sad melody of nature, like rain.

However, the most poignant is the ballad (of course) and these translations more or less miraculous or death. A mimesis that "those who do not know anything about the Russian language, appears as a fine trail, virtually out of the world. Of those representations that moved to César Vallejo: Russian Soviet industrial burning theater; is this breath. For we can hear a concert had to be distant in time (a dark concert hall), and a sophisticated label seeking her niche.

musicology is not, but the surprise of being taken for a song, one day of our lives.
